Understanding Additional Dumpster Rentals Fees
At Optimum Dumpsters, we aim for transparency in our pricing. Occasionally, situations arise that necessitate charges beyond the initial flat-rate quote. We want to ensure there are no surprises on your final bill by explaining potential additional fees.
Cancellation Fees
Canceling your dumpster rental is hassle-free before 3 p.m. the day prior to your scheduled service. A late cancellation incurs a $150 fee to compensate for the logistical adjustments needed for our drivers.
Trip Fees (Dry-Run Fees)
Cost: $150-$350
Trip fees arise if obstacles prevent us from completing a scheduled delivery or pickup, causing delays and disruptions in our service schedule. These fees are assessed within 30 days post-service. Here’s how to steer clear of them:
Preparation: Clear the delivery area of obstacles like vehicles, equipment, and ensure gateways are open. While marking the area with cones or plywood is optional, it helps. Acquiring necessary permits for dumpsters on public property is also vital.
Space Requirements: Ensure there’s adequate space for delivery and pickup, typically needing 23 feet of vertical clearance, 10.5 feet in width, and 60 feet of straight-line space.
Proper Loading: Avoid overloading. Place bulky items first and fill gaps with lighter debris, ensuring everything stays below the fill line for safe transport.
Weight Limit Adherence: Our dumpsters have a 10 ton maximum. Exceeding this limit not only poses a safety risk but could also result in a trip fee if items need to be removed to lighten the load.
Extension Fees
Cost: $15-$25 per day
Extensions to your rental period are available at a daily rate. The cost varies based on location and dumpster availability. Avoid extension fees by:
Sticking to Schedule: Our rental periods are clear from the start. Staying within this timeframe helps avoid additional costs.
Timely Pickup Requests: You can request pickup anytime during your rental. To dodge extension fees, schedule this before your rental period ends.
Planning for Longer Projects: For extended projects, discuss longer rental options upfront.
Overage Fees
Cost: $150-$250 per ton
Your quoted price includes a weight limit. Exceeding this limit incurs an overage fee, charged per ton. To prevent this:
Choose the Correct Dumpster Size: Match your dumpster size to your project to avoid overage charges.
Be Aware of Weight Limits: Match Knowing the limit and discussing your project’s needs helps stay within bounds.
Cover Your Dumpster: Protect your dumpster from rain or snow, which can increase the weight of your debris.
Disposal Fees
Cost: $25-$200 per item
Certain items require special handling at landfills, leading to disposal fees. Avoid these by:
Knowing Item Restrictions: Familiarize yourself with restricted items to plan disposal costs accordingly or seek alternative disposal methods.
Properly Dispose of Hazardous Waste: Hazardous and flammable materials are prohibited and must be disposed of through appropriate channels.
Other Possible Fees
Dig-Out Fees: In cold climates, items frozen in the dumpster may incur a $75 fee for removal with special equipment.
Wait Fees: Delaying the service upon our driver’s arrival can lead to wait fees, charged by the hour until the service can be completed.
